Prince William demands £1.3 million compensation over topless images of Kate published in magazines

There are certain people not to cross and the British Royals are such people. The paparazzi who took topless photos of Kate Middleton in 2012 are learning that the hard way as the royals have taken them to court and are demanding a compensation of £1.3 million for breach of privacy.

Over four years ago, celebrity magazine, Closer, and French newspapers released half-naked photos of the Duchess of Cambridge taken while she sunbathed topless at a chateau in Luberon region.

Soon after it was shared by the magazine, the photos went viral and the royals were really furious about it. They immediately took legal action against the culprits, which includes; the editor of Closer; Ernesto Mauri, chief executive of Italian publisher Mondadori, the magazine’s owner; and two photographers from a Paris agency who are suspected of taking the pictures.

The royal family revealed that snapping and publishing the photos were a ‘grotesque’ breach of privacy and sued them in a French court. The defendants appeared at a court hearing in the Paris suburb of Nanterre to answer charges brought under French privacy laws. The two photographers, Cyril Moreau and Dominique Jacovides were present in the courtroom at the tribunal de Nanterre on Tuesday but denied taking the photos. They claimed they were unable to find where the royals were staying and kept driving around looking for them. Mobile records, however, show that the two photographers were within the vicinity of the house at the time the photos were taken.

Paul-Albert Iweins, a lawyer representing Closer magazine tried to justify the publication of the photos on the grounds of public interest, saying that the pictures disproved rumours circulating at the time that Middleton might be anorexic. He argued that the photos did not constitute a breach of privacy and cast them in a positive light. On the other hand, Jean Veil, lawyer for the Duchess of Cambridge, said the article which accompanied the photos was only a pretext for publishing the pictures. Ernesto Mauri, 70, chief executive of publishing group Mondadori which produces Closer, faces one charge of using a document obtained by a breach of privacy, as does Marc Auburtin, 56, who was La Provence’s publishing director at the time. Laurence Piau, 50, editor of Closer magazine in France, is charged with complicity.

Another photographer was present in court and stood in the dock with the other two. Valerie Suau, 53, who was a photographer for La Provence, is said to have taken photographs of the Duchess of Cambridge in her swimwear which were printed in La Provence. She admitted to taking the photos but told the court she did not intend to breach the royals’ privacy.

Closer magazine was banned from printing any further images by a court in Paris after the royal couple launched their legal proceeding. The case is still ongoing and the royals are demanding comoensation. The court is expected to reach a verdict on July 4.

Prince William is filmed dancing with women in a club and with his hand on woman`s waist [Video]

Yesterday, video emerged of Prince William dancing at Farinet nightclub in Switzerland on Sunday and though today he's back to his job as a helicopter pilot, people are still debating whether his actions were proper for a married prince.

Prince William, 34, who is the second in line to the British throne was seen in a Swiss Club, dancing flirtatiously with a woman believed to be Australian model Sophie Taylor, 24 with whom he had been photographed enjoying lunch over the weekend, while she ground against him and did a Slut Drop.
Other clips also show him putting his hand on a mystery woman's waist while leaning in to speak with her.

The royal had left his family at home to go on a lads' ski trip to Verbier with his male pals and missed a major Commonwealth Day event, another reason why people have condemned his actions. At the club, the prince let his guards down as he moved his body to Pharrell's Happy, unaware that onlookers were taking several videos of him.

One of the onlookers said William looked “the worse for wear,” and told how others were astonished by the future king’s antics.

“He was dancing so wildly that I did a double-take when I first saw him and thought it must be a lookalike," he said. “But before long everyone realised they really were partying with Prince William. I decided I had to film it with my phone or no one would ever believe me.

“He was dancing with a very attractive blonde girl to hip hop and really going for it — it was proper dad dancing. I’m not sure whether it was the drink but he didn’t seem to care how he looked and I never saw any security guys keeping an eye on him or his three mates. He started trying on hats starting with a skier’s bobble hat then a cowboy hat while he danced with the blonde. It was a hilarious sight.”

Another partygoer, a female, posted Instagram pictures of herself inside the club with the hashtag #slutdropwithaprince, referring to the Slut Drop dance move Sophie pulled while dancing with the Prince.

One day after, William returned home to wife Kate and their children and was back on duty as a helicopter pilot for East Anglia Air Ambulance yesterday but royal expert Katie Nicholl, author of Kate: The Future Queen, said he would have got a cold reception at home.

“It’s safe to assume Kate will be far from happy about this," she said.

Prince William and Prince Harry to honour their late mother Princess Diana with special tribute

Prince William and Prince Harry are set to honour their late mother Princess Diana with special tribute and floral memorial, and the pair have approved of all the plans thus far.

The royal brothers – who are the children of Prince Charles and Diana – are overseeing the plans for the forthcoming event, which is taking place inside and outside of Kensington Palace, to mark the 20th anniversary of the royal’s death in 1997.

Speaking to the Daily Express newspaper, a spokesperson for the Historic Royal Palaces said: “The Duke and Prince Harry have been supportive. They’ve seen the plans.”

William, 34, and Harry, 32, are set to install a temporary memorial in the form of a White Garden in the grounds, which will include flowers including tulips, forget-me-nots and white roses that have been selected to suit the late Princess of Wales’ preferences.

And the garden’s team leader, Sean Harkin, has admitted he hopes to represent Diana’s “energy and spirit” with the feature.

He said: “We hope to capture the energy and spirit which made her such a popular figure around the world.”

Meanwhile, fashion designer Victor Edelstein – who created garments for the golden-haired beauty – has revealed Diana was very particular about her “likes and dislikes”.

Speaking previously about the star – who is set to have a fashion exhibition launch in memory of her next year, which will be titled ‘Diana: Her Fashion Story’ – he said: “She was clear about her likes and dislikes.”

And the creative mastermind has credited Diana for having a “good eye” for fashion and has revealed she instantly knew what outfits would suit her and what wouldn’t.

Victor explained: “She had a good eye for what would suit her.”
