CLEVELAND, Ohio - Just after Horseshoe Cleveland Casino closed its doors for 40 hours at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jack Cleveland Casino readied itself for its debut.
Table covers and signs were changed, and workers began removing paper receipts from 1,700 slot machines.
About 400,000 poker chips and 1,800 pairs of dice were packed into secure containers. New chips, worth more than $135 million, will be brought out before the casino reopens at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Horsesehoe Casino to close for 40 hours to become Jack Casino
Horsehoe, which had been affiliated with Caesar's Entertainment Corp., is now owned by Jack Entertainment, formerly Rock Gaming.
All Caesar's trademarks, including the tiled "World Series of Poker" logo on the poker room floor, will be removed.
The TAG bar is now the ROCK bar and lounge. The Spread Buffet is now the Market District Buffet. The Diamond Lounge is now the Library.
The carpet, with designs that look like stirrups, is not a Caesar's trademark, officials said. It will stay for now and be replaced as it ages.
Gamblers holding on to chips and slot machine receipts can no longer use them when Jack Cleveland Casino opens.
They have until Aug. 9 to redeem chips for cash or check at the casino cage, officials said. Guests have up to 180 days after the date the slot machine receipt was created to redeem it.
One gambler has the last Horseshoe slot receipt, worth 200 free spins. She was playing shortly before midnight, when the building was supposed to close, and was allowed to stay and play until about 12:45 a.m.
