Project Overview and Role
The objectives of the DFID-funded programme is to enable the poorest and most vulnerable in Tanzanian society to become more resilient to climate change and to benefit from low carbon growth through the strengthening of the United Republic of Tanzania Public sector institutions.
Responsibilities
The Communication and Knowledge Management Specialist reports to the Team Leader. The communication and outreach specialist is responsible for:
Manage communication and information systems;
Create and monitor outreach materials and publications;
Develop and monitor media campaigns and strategies;
Develop and distribute publications and other informative materials;
Coordinate and gather input from different teams to create the above mentioned media strategies and publications;
Assist with the organization and facilitation of events; and
If required, travel and other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in communications, media, public relations or related fields;
3+ years? relevant work experience in the field of public relations and corporate communications, demonstrating increasing responsibilities and knowledge, preferable in international development or a related field;
Working knowledge of environment and climate change issues and terminology
Ability to craft information messages in various media formats (press releases, websites, video, etc.) targeting a variety of audiences;
A working knowledge of media relations, publishing and events planning fields;
Experience with public and/or private donors including a strong demonstrated knowledge of communications and social media strategies for DFID funded projects preferred;
Experience with communications and outreach in the climate change, adaptation, resilience and/or clean energy is preferred;
An interest in international development and a demonstrated knowledge of the industry;
Solid experience in Tanzania
