Tina Skinner, 43, sent former boyfriend Gareth Jones, 59, a text saying “I love you” before her death, in November 2016.An inquest heard she had been planning their wedding in September this year – but he called off the big day after a series of “trivial squabbles”.
The last time former soldier Gareth saw Tina was when he went to her home in November after cancelling the wedding.
A coroner was told about the final texts exchanged by the pair in which Tina asked Gareth for help, with him replying: “Please stay strong, everything will be alright. I promise.”
Her final text simply read “I love you”.
Divorcee Tina was found dead just one day later at her home in Bridgend, South Wales.
In a written statement read to the court, Gareth Jones said the pair were due to marry on his 60th birthday in September 2017.
He said: “She became less outgoing to the point where sometimes she would not leave the house.
“During the early stages Tina was outgoing. Sometimes she would talk to me.
“She would often write her thoughts down on a piece of paper.”
Her body was found by ex-husband Mark Skinner next to a handwritten note and a framed photograph of her mum.Police found medication next to her bed and tablets in a brown handbag at the house.
The court heard cause of death was bronchopneumonia and mixed drug toxicity.
