The son of Osama Bin Laden, Hamza, is set to take revenge on the United States for killing his father, according to a former FBI agent.
Personal letters seized in a raid of Osama’s compound in Pakistan back in 2011 revealed that the Al Qaeda leader’s son adored his dad and wanted to carry on his brutal ideology.
Speaking to CBS, Ali Soufan, the former FBI agent who was the bureau’s lead investigator of Al Qaeda after the 9/11 attacks, revealed that Hamza is now set to avenge his father’s death.
Hamza, 28, released two videos in recent weeks, suggesting that he is trying to become a leading figure within Al Qaeda.
Soufan said:
His recent message that came out, he delivered the speech as if it’s his father…using sentences, terminology that was used by Osama bin Laden. He’s basically saying, ‘American people, we’re coming and you’re going to feel it’. The whole thing was about vengeance.
As a kid, Hamza was a poster boy for the terrorist organisation and appeared in a lot of its chilling propaganda – so he was always held in high esteem by its members, according to Soufan.
But there weren’t any indications of active involvement within the group until a few months ago, after senior leader of the terrorist organisation Ayman al-Zawahiri declared he was a member.
The State Department soon learned he could be walking in his fathers footsteps as he was in fact a senior leader of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
He was added to the U.S. counter-terrorism blacklist and designated as a global terrorist.
Only time will tell if he will really matches his dad’s deadly ambitions.
