2026 World Cup: President Trump threatens countries that may come against North American bid to host the tournament?
US President Donald Trump tweeted support for the North American FIFA 2026 World Cup and hinted that nations who oppose it could face political repercussions.

“The U.S. has put together a STRONG bid w/ Canada & Mexico for the 2026 World Cup,” Trump tweeted. "It would be a shame if countries that we always support were to lobby against the U.S. bid. Why should we be supporting these countries when they don’t support us (including at the United Nations)?” he said.

Morocco is the only other nation bidding for the 2026 football showpiece against the combined North American bid.

World football’s governing body FIFA will announce the winning bid after a vote on June 13 in Moscow, ahead of the start of this year’s World Cup in Russia.

Donald Trump signs new travel ban targeting eight countries including North Korea

Donald Trump has signed a new travel ban affecting eight countries. The new travel ban is set to prohibit all citizens of North Korea from entering the United States .

It also slaps restrictions on Iran, Chad, Libya, Syria, Venezuela, Yemen and Somalia,.

The new restrictions, which will go into effect on October 18, resulted from a review after President Donald Trump's original travel bans were challenged in court.

"North Korea does not cooperate with the United States government in any respect and fails to satisfy all information-sharing requirements," the proclamation said.

An administration official, briefing reporters on a conference call, acknowledged that the number of North Koreans traveling to the United States now was very low.

I just don’t want a poor person -Trump defends appointing only rich people in his cabinet

U.S. President Donald Trump said he wouldn’t want a poor person in charge of the economy, as he defended his cabinet, which is thought to be the wealthiest in the country’s history.
“Somebody said, ‘Why did you appoint a rich person to be in charge of the economy?’” he told supporters at rally in Iowa.
“So I said …because that’s the kind of thinking we want… because they’re representing the country.
Making a particular reference to Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, a billionaire former investor, Trump said:,
“They don’t want the money. And they had to give up a lot to take up these jobs.”
Trump, himself a billionaire, went on to refer to Gary Cohn, his chief economic advisor.

“This is the president of Goldman Sachs. Smart. Having him represent us, he went from massive paydays to peanuts, to little tiny … I’m waiting for them to accuse him of wanting that little amount of money.
“These are people that are great, brilliant business minds, and that’s what we need, that’s what we have to have so the world doesn’t take advantage of us.
“We can’t have the world taking advantage of us any more. And I love all people, rich or poor, but in those particular positions I just don’t want a poor person.
“Does that make sense?”
“If you insist I’ll do it but I like it better this way, right?”

Trump’s Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos is also a billionaire heiress, while Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the former boss of oil giant Exxon, is thought to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Other rich appointees include Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, a former hedge fund manager, and Housing Secretary Ben Carson, who made his fortune selling books on his career in medicine and his political ideas.

Donald Trump mourns the death of Otto Warmbier who died days after he was released from North Korea

US President, Donald Trump is mourning the death of Otto Warmbier, who was held in North Korea for 15 months. 22 year old Otto Warmbier died barely one week after the US and his family secured the release of Warmbier ,who had been in a coma for about a year, from North Korea.
Mourning him, Donald Trump and his wife offered their deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Otto Warmbier saying:
"There's nothing more tragic than to loose a child in the prime of life'.
Otto was a student at the University of Virginia when he traveled in a group to Pyongyang. On the day he was supposed to leave the country to return home to the US on January 2, he was arrested and detained at the airport.
North Korean authorities accused him of committing a hostile act against the country by stealing a propaganda poster from the hotel he was staying in.  He was kept there after giving a tearful press conference and was not seen again until last week when he was carried off a private medical plane upon his return to the US.

According to reports, he was given a sleeping pill but he never woke up from that sleep.

Trump cancels Obama policy for illegal immigrant families

The Trump administration announced on Thursday that it is cancelling an Obama-era policy to allow millions of illegal-immigrant parents of children born in the United States to stay in the country.

The 2014 policy, known as DAPA, for Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, aimed to help the families of so-called "dreamer" children stay together free from the threat of deportation.

It was never implemented after 26 states successfully sued in a Texas federal district court to block it. The US Supreme Court let the lower court ruling stand last year after a four-four tie vote.
Set out in a memo from the administration of then-president Barack Obama, the policy said the government would defer any action against illegal immigrant parents of children who are lawful permanent residents -- mainly those born in the country to parents without legal status.

DAPA would have affected as many as four million people by some estimates, those with US-born children who were in the country before 2010.

But the Department of Homeland Security announced it was rescinding the policy with the support of the Justice Department.
It comes amid a tough crackdown on illegal immigration ordered by President Donald Trump. Kelly did not say whether the government has plans to replace DAPA with another measure that would allow families living in the country for decades to remain together without the threat of deportation.
