In case you haven’t heard, Google has been running the You Tube sub-Saharan creator awards that was put in place to celebrate and reward the talent and creativity of the YouTube community.
YouTube Awards are being handed out to 24 creators across 22 categories on 10 and 11 November and as Google announced, the first 10 winners of the inaugural Sub-Saharan African YouTube Awards includes Diamond Platnumz and Sarkodie.
Nominees were chosen based on subscriber numbers. Users had to have a minimum of 50 000 subscribers to qualify and be based and currently residing in one of eight launched countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
Top non-broadcaster channels were picked from each launched country. The eight launched countries in SSA are Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria, and Senegal.

Games – Slushy AJ
News and politics – Millard Ayo
Nonprofit – Jim Nduruchi
Pets and animals – Earth Touch
Top Subscribed Creator in Ghana – OfficialSarkodie
Top Subscribed Creator in Senegal – Prince Arts
Top Subscribed Creator in Tanzania – Diamond Platnumz
Top Subscribed Creator in Zimbabwe – Mufti Menk
Top Subscribed Nollywood Channel – IbakaTV/Nollywood
The remaining categories will be announced at the Awards on the 11th of November.
